A map made of Facebook interactions around the world.
Social media play a huge role in our lives in the 21st Century. It affects our friendships, our opinions, and how we see the world around us. But is this a good or bad thing? Do we have a good relationship with social media, or does it have a bad affect on us and our behaviour? Today and tomorrow, we'll be looking at these issues.
Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) is one of the most important ideas in computers and technology today. Ever since the invention of computers, we have controlled how they think. A.I. is the next step.
A.I. is about computers "learning" and thinking without us humans telling them what to do.
What is intelligence?
Intelligence does not mean the same thing for everybody:
The dictionary says that intelligence is:
Ever since computers were first made, people have imagined that computers could- one day- be as "intelligent" as people.
Alan Turing
Alan Turing invented one of the first computers.
He believed that computers could become "intelligent". Here is a video about the Turing Test.
There are many reasons why computers are not able to "trick" people into believing they are real. However, computers are very intelligent at some things. For example, they can play chess and beat humans:
Since 1997, computers have become much more intelligent. For example, they can now play the TV game Jeopardy! In Jeopardy!, people have to say questions for their answers. For example, a question on Jeopardy! might say:
This man is the President of the United States and was born in Hawaii.
To win, you have to say: "Who is Barack Obama?"
IBM made a computer called Watson, and sent it to play Jeopardy!
He doesn't get everything right, but knows how to take risks:
A.I. is growing faster and better every year. Soon, A.I. might be able to do lots of things.
Infographics are a great way to combine information, pictures, and numbers. I'd like you to make an inforgraphic all about you. Include basic information, such as where you're from, how old you are, and what things you like. Here are some interesting examples of infographics about people to give you ideas for your inforgraphic biography.
