Homework - Social Media Cartoons

Hello M4 SEEK students,

Here is the homework for this week. It is due on Monday 6th June. Please look at these cartoons about social media.

In your notebook (or on paper), please choose 3 cartoons and write:
  1. What is in the cartoon?
  2. What do you think the cartoon is saying?
  3. Do you agree with what it is saying?

Technology Vocabulary

Yesterday, we looked at technology vocabulary. Here are the words, and what they mean.

convenient (adj)


If something can be done with little effort or difficulty.

"PayPal is a convenient way to transfer money."

privacy (noun)

This is somebody with no privacy

Being free from being seen or disturbed by other people. For example, doing something by yourself.
"I can’t concentrate on my work at school, it’s too noisy! I’m going home so that I can work in  privacy."

artificial (adjective)


Made by humans, not found in nature.

"Cars, computers, and airplanes are all examples of artificial technology."

globalisation (noun)


Spreading businesses, technologies, or ideas around the world.
"McDonald’s is an example of globalisation. You can buy a Big Mac almost anywhere in the world."

social (adj)

Being with other people, coming together as a group.
"I like using social media such as Facebook."

censorship (noun)


When the government stops people from reading, seeing, or hearing certain ideas.
"In China, the government uses censorship to block websites they don’t like."

cybercrime (noun)


Using the internet to commit a crime.
"Stealing credit card information online is an example of _________________."

virtual (adj)


Something that doesn’t exist in real life, but only in a computer program.
"Computer games can take us into a virtual world that is completely different from ours."

algorithm (noun)


A process or set of rules that a computer uses to do things.
"Google uses an algorithm to give you search results."

cloud computing (noun)


Using an internet network to save and store information, instead of something you can see or touch.
“Do you have the file on a USB drive?” “No, I saved it to the _____________”
