Semester 2 Mid-Terms: Supplemental Exam

Hello, students! Here is a summary of everything that is going to be on the supplemental exam.

The supplemental exam will be on Friday 16th December, from 2:30-3:30.

• Reading: You will read a short version of A Christmas Carol, then answer questions about the story.
• White lies: Give examples of white lies and think about whether they are good or bad.
• Reading: Look at an article about dating and relationships, then use the information to write advice.
• Writing: Practical English drama. You have to write a summary of what has happened in the story so far with Rob, Jenny, and Holly. You also have to guess what will happen next, and say whether you think Rob should date Jenny or Holly.

• Hour of Code. You have to use the blocks and write a simple code from the Moana Hour of Code event.

Here's what you can do today to get ready for the exam:

- If you've never read A Christmas Carol before, here's a good short summary. There is also a longer summary on pages 3, 4, and 5. Once you've finished, you can take a short test to make sure that you've understood the story.

- Complete this quiz about white lies.

- Reread the Practical English sections of the textbook. You can also rewatch the videos from the Practical English drama. They are on your CD, but you can also watch them on YouTube:

Semester 2 Mid-Terms: Core Exam

Hello students!

The Core exam will take place on Wednesday 14th December, from 2:30-3:30.

These are the grammar/vocab points that will be on the core test:

• Will/won't for predictions (textbook: p. 44, workbook: p. 37)

I won't be late to school tomorrow.

He won't remember to call back.

• Will/won't for decisions, offers, and promises (textbook: p. 46, workbook: p. 39)

I will try harder at school. (Decision, something you have decided you will do)

I'll get you some medicine from the store, if you like? (Offer, something you offer to do to help somebody else)

I'll never forget about you. I promise. (Promise, something you will absolutely do)

You'll have to define what these terms mean, and give examples of optimistic and pessimistic thoughts.

• Dreams and their Meanings

You will read a short article about the meaning of dreams, then answer questions about what you have just read.

Sweet dream or Nightmare

 Who said that the confusion arose just as in real life. I'm sure it happens all the time, like my dreams, you're going to read.

     

        On what seems to be chaos, I am walking among the many people who hustle. Suddenly a young man ran into me. something in my hands drop a man filed that thing to me with a warm smile.I get a piece of it, and then I went from there.I stopped at the coffee shop of the appeal.I sit in the shop the owner who a beautiful girl came and asked me with her  warm smile. I think my dream would end it there.But rather,I do not remember my dreams that why I closer with both people who have warm smile. One day while I was sitting in a coffee shop the man then confessed to me. But I have not replied to.He was told to wait for an answer and walked out of the shop.As I was caught up in my own thoughts.The store owner had replaced the young man sitting in the moments earlier.She confessed to me She spoke with the young man said.

The incident made me very uptight.I do not know how to answer it,because both made me feel happy made me smile made me laugh And made me feel good .

       

         Then all was lost Became the voice of both the ringing in my head with the sentence "You have only one choice." how should I do if I selected a young man will owner regret But if I choose a girl will society will accept it? And I will be perceived as abnormal or not While the confusion to attack me.Suddenly I opened my eyes, If all this is true, how should I deal with it. It was a dream that I can not honestly say that it was a sweet dream or a nightmare.

My Dream

          My dream is both good and bad. Mostly, I do not pretend to dream.

          When I dream, I don't remember all the events. But I will try to tell you.1.I dream that I went to a water park in Bangkok. I was playing on a slide. Then I slid down in the water, I was submerged, I was scared. But I grabbed on to something and got safely out of the water.

2.I dreamed that I had a new house. The house was a two-storey house. Indoors, it had chandeliers. Around the house, a field , pond and swimming pool. Everything was situated amidst natural beauty.

3.I dreamed that I went to the temple. The temple was beautiful , due to the unique architecture. The temple was painted white. Each day, a lot of people went this temple. I thought "have I ever visited this temple?" - yes. The temple is named "Rong Khon"

Majirunrun Gokigenmaru!

This dream was one of my favorite dreams! I can remember it clearly and very excited to share this story to you! I think some of them are the thing than I make it up when I was about to 100% wake up hahaha

It is started like the prologue of otome game. I was a 14 years old girl with beautiful long blonde heir and aquamarine eyes. I was in my house. I run from my living room to take some Yakult in kitchenette. Somehow, when I pass the door between two rooms, I was suddenly knocked out. At that second before I hit the floor, I though that it was something abnormal happened to me! Maybe I get some poison? some anesthetic or any anesthetic needle stick on my body!? Everything turn white and I can't feel anything anymore...

When I awake, I was in a prison and I though it was underground. I was so confusing that what did I done!? Why I have to be in this prison? But a few second later, I realize two things, is this a prison? and I was in a solitary confinement... In my cell, only a blanket that look dirty and has been torn lie on the floor. Everything is actually clean in this underground prison. I can't understand why I'm here... I though about my mom, dad, and family. I want to see them at less once. I want to tell them that I didn't do anything and please help me! 

Somehow, I hear a sound of foot step and some door open sound!(course it was very quite there) I was so scared and stay in the shade in my cell. Then I saw 2 handsome men walk in a solitary confinement area(?) and trying to talking in low volume.(but it still loud because here is very quiet) They probably about 17-19 years old. They wear a military uniform... not a military uniform that we saw in everyday life but it actually like WW2 military uniform hahaha....

They have many military ribbons even they're very young. Moreover, they have shotguns! My brain started to thinking who they are. They much be very very skillful young military officers. I still in the shade of my cell with fear. 

One of them is a (look-like)friendly, positive, energetic and bubbly person(I'll call him A) and another look quite, clam, cool, old fashion and collected person(I'll call him B). They walk to my cell and look at me. A look at me interestingly but B look haughty at me. However, I can't trust them! A was the first one who speak. He tell me something like they're here to watch over me and don't be afraid or worry! Then he make a bright smile. Move to B, he just watch at me silently.... I CAN'T TRUST THEM!!! 

A stand in "Stand At Ease" pose and keep talking. Even B didn't answer him any word. B sit with one's legs crossed and look like he ignore A. And I still in shade... Somehow, I sleep and the next day come...

Next day, A and B come to watch over me again and I was still afraid. This time, A suddenly open my cell's door and he come inside with B. A hold out one's hand to me. 
He say something like don't be afraid, are you not trust us and everything is okay. 
He want me to hold his hand to confirm that I trust him. Of course, I didn't hold his hand and stay deeper in shade. How can I trust them? They are in military uniform and they have shotgun! I afraid that A will be a yandere type. If I hold A's hand, maybe A will shot me or B, who were behind A, will shot me!!!  Few second later, A give up and smile sadly. He say some thing like "it's okay that you don't trust me now. But I'll make you trust me someday!" and smile gently. They went out of my cell and lock the cell's door. B murmur to A that "Why you have to do something annoying like this. She will never trust us. Don't trying to make me in trouble with you." Then I can't remember what happen next.

Until noon, I remember that A and B lead me to the prison's canteen. They are all women there. So that make I think that this is a women zone in prison. A and B wait and watch me at the canteen's door. I have to take my lunch and eat with other people. Every women look at me and started to gossip. They even look more dangerous than me... When I about to sit and eat my lunch, someone make my lunch fall to the floor. Everyone laugh at me. As you can see, no one welcome me haha... That make A and B have to help me and lead me back to my cell. They pick some lunch of me too. When they give me lunch, I ate it! Then.... I can't remember anything anymore and I wake up.   


Glossary
- Otome game is a story based video game that is targeted towards the female market. Generally one of the goals, besides the main plot goal, is to develop a romantic relationship between the female player character and one of several male characters.
- Yandere is a Japanese term for a person who is initially loving and caring to someone they like a lot until their romantic love, admiration, and devotion becomes feisty and mentally destructive in nature through either over-protectiveness, violence, brutality or all three.

Nightmare or Real life?

                                                       Nightmare or Real life?

          One day, I go to school normally. I heard someone shout "be careful, there's a monster. You can use only middle stairs, don't use front stairs and escape quickly." I look forward and know that my homeroom teacher said. I'm so shocked. What's going to be with our school? If I couldn't escape from here, how could I do?
          Suddenly, I'm at home. Lots of thinks chaotic in my mind. Am I escape from terrible? Am I died or alive? but then I heard someone screaming. I'm so afraid. I saw a monster ran to my house. I lock the door, close all the windows and run to toilet. I meet my friend in the toilet. I tell her that a monster will kill us if you speak loudly! We are frightening. I tell her that I'm going to see it, just wait here, don't go anywhere if I'm not come back. I crawling slowly to living room at that moment I saw it! It's looking at me! It's screaming! I'm go back to the toilet to tell my friend that It's here! outside the house. It's scared me. Then I wake up because my ducky alarm.....

    Last night I didn't dream about anything, but I can remember my dream for a long time ago. That night I dreamed about my lost favorite pink dress that I couldn't find it anywhere, so when I looked out of the door I saw a little girl who was wearing a pink dress.. I was shocked and said it's my pink dress!!!!! I ran after her quickly but she ran away, I decided to go back home and tell my mom about this happening. My tears fell down onto my face.. my mom gave that dress to her!! I ran up to my room, locked the door and cried. When I woke up my mom asked me 'what happened? I heard you crying last night.

My weird night

             I don't usually dream as well and after i woke up i mostly forget it. Well, This dream is my favorite.. I dream that I went to dance competition called "Hip Hop International" in America with my dance crew.  

                  One day i went to The  HHI Dance competition in Bangkok, Thailand with my dance crew. This competition made for find the best dance crew of Thailand.The winner of this competition have to go to America for next round. Then, my crew won this competiton in Thailand and have to go to America! When we arrived to America

                     We went to HHI dance competition in America. We danced very well and of course we won!! we came to Thailand with the name called THE FIRST PLACE !!!!!!!!!!

MY DREAM

       I always forgot my dream because I go to bed late and wake up very early. But when I remember my dream I can remember just a short time. Latest I had a dream, in my dream...I ate many strawberries in my house. I'm really happy and feel good to eat them. Later I found a rot strawberry and ate it. Suddenly I spit it out and cry. And Then I wake up for prepare myself to go to school.

         Last night I had a dream about sweet dream. I was in a forest with my friend and I    walk around the forest. Suddenly, I saw the lake in front of me and then I look back to my  friend but I didn't see anyone. 

       

               At the moment have someone hand catch my hand and tell me "run" and then I      woke up.

My Dream

Zombie

I like to watch movies and series about zombie. Sometime I was thinking about the movie that I watch before I going to bed. I don't really remember my dream.

I was sitting in my room, in this room has a big metal cabinet.

I don't know when I sleep but when I woke up, I saw everything in this room had destroyed from something. 

I didn't see anyone.After that for a few minutes my sister and many people are running into this room, me and my sister get on the cabinet.The zombies are trying to catch me and my sister but they can't everyone die except me and my sister.We're trying to get out of this place and we can do it, when we get out we found a survive group.We go to 7-11 near the school, we packed a conned food in our bag and get out of this town. 

That's all I remember.

            MY WEIRD DREAM

Well..... The truth is, I can't even remember my dreams after wake up for a few minutes, but I always tell my mom every time I dream, so I can remember somehow... 
              This is my weird dream that I usually dream...

              I waked up in a house that it's not mine.(the house is like the house from'A series of unfortunate events')

             I walked down the stair to find my mom and I found a maze down stair. I tried to find the way out, but it seemed like there was NO WAY OUT. Then, I found a hold on the wall next to me. It's kind of interesting for me and I really wanted to put my hand in there, maybe I could found something useful in there. I put my hand in the hold, searched for things. Finally, I found a box with many many lock on it.........

 So...That's all I can remember. I don't know did I open it or not. lol
 I usually dream this dream over and over again, don't know why, but it's kind of creepy though.

*MORE UPDATE!!*   

            Well... yesterday(1/12/16) I was scared soooooo bad of failing my test on Friday.(I had Social study and Math test as well) I read books and took some of my old math exercises until 2:00 am and ended up sleep on the couch.

             I was sitting in my seat at school, it's like every normal day at school. It was so crowded today because of M6 Pre-Quota exam. Then, the door room opened and my friend from another class came in. She talked to me about something, then took my hand and dragged me out of the class. 

She led me to the hallway that full of BOOKS. BOOKS, BOOKS' everywhere! I never thought that our seniors were reading this much! (LOL) I walked down the stairs with her and met some of our seniors that I knew. It was an unusual stair, kind of non-stop? I guess? I walked down in circle and continued with meeting people I knew and haven't seen them for ages. I talked to everyone I met and that was so fun, but suddenly I woke up...at 3 AM----- WHAT?!?!

            It was my PRECIOUS 1 hour, you know... 

            So, that's all :)

          

M y Dream

I didn't dream for a long time.  And my last dream I was already forget it.

I had a dream...

I don't usually remember my dreams. I have a bad memory, and I often forget my dreams before I even wake up. But there is one dream I have quite a lot- I dream that I am driving very badly.

In my dream, I'm usually driving a car. The last time I had this dream, I was driving at night time near Gad Suan Kaew in Chiang Mai.

In my dream, I crashed into lots of cars. I was trying to steer the wheel, but it didn't seem to do anything- I just kept hitting parked cars! In my dream, the police tried to stop me at a checkpoint, but I just drove straight through- I couldn't stop!

In my dream, I was on my own and felt scared. Even though I knew it wasn't real, I was still terrified that I was going to be in big trouble with the police. I don't like driving cars usually, so I think this was my brain showing me what my worst nightmare would look like! 

My Interesting Dream with One Direction

I had this dream the night before, where I was at school, with the band One Direction.

That day was a normal day at school. I was going to the bathroom with some of my friends, when on the way I met Liam. I got very excited about it! Somehow the need to go to the bathroom went away😆. I then went up and talked to Liam, saying how big of a fan I was.

The next thing I remember is, the other members of the band showed up from nowhere and all of my friends disappeared! I went to talk to Zayn, my favorite member of the band. I also went around and talked to the other members; Harry, Niall, and Louis. We talked about their day, my day, and some music stuff. Then the moment I hate the most happened; I woke up😞.

I really enjoyed the dream while it lasted. I hope I will have the same or similar dreams like this in the future.

Applying To Space Camp

To apply for the ASEAN Space Camp, you must answer this question:

"How does astronomy play a significant part in your daily life?"

There are many examples of how studying astronomy/space affects us. Here are just some examples- remember, you might have many other ideas!

1) Communications

We use astronomy to launch satellites into space, which help us with many parts of our daily lives; without satellites, we wouldn't have cell phones, GPS, or satellite TV. Think how different our lives would be without this technology!

2) Our safety

If we study astronomy, we can know more about our universe and try to keep our planet safe.

For example, solar flares (energy released by the sun) can affect satellites and technology on earth. If we understand them better, we can do something to protect ourselves.

Similarly, comets or asteroids could end life on earth. Astronomy can help us find out more about these comets, and perhaps even save the Earth!

3) Life on Other Planets / Exploration

Humans like to explore and discover new places. We want to know more about our world...and beyond!

For example, we sent people to the Moon because we wanted to know more about it and see what it was like. The astronauts who went to the Moon didn't do it for money or fame, but because they wanted to see and explore a new world.

We also want to know if there is life on other planets. Astronomy can help us to answer one of the oldest questions in science: "Are we alone in the universe?". Astronomers are discovering more and more planets every year, and believe that some of these could have life.

4) Everyday technology 

Through astronomy and space exploration, we have invented many useful technologies. These can help us with our lives on earth.
